Brightstone Transitions believes that all young adults are unique. No young adults share the same background or issues, however many do share certain characteristics.
Our clients are young men and women, ranging in age from 18-26. Our typical client is the young adult who struggles socially, hasn’t been able to achieve success, and wants their independence. Many of our clients are typically diagnosed with ADHD, NLD, or Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 1 (what was diagnosed Asperger’s Syndrome in the DSM IV). They are high-functioning, bright, and typically anxious around new situations. They tend to struggle socially or academically, and haven’t learned the life skills necessary to be successful. Our clients are capable of success, but for whatever reason they have been unable to achieve/maintain that success. The struggles our clients face often come with different diagnoses, we partner with each client’s practitioners to help develop a plan that works for that young adult. Many have failed to “launch”, and often appear unwilling or unable to achieve the milestones established by their peers.
Young Adults often come to Brightstone Transitions feeling frustrated and defeated by their inability to keep up with family and societal expectations. Many young adults appear unmotivated to address those next milestones toward independence and are struggling to find direction. At this point, providing the young adult with a change in environment can be the catalyst to move forward.
